The coffee press, or French Press, brews an outstanding cup of coffee. It consists of a glass or plastic beaker, with a plunger and mesh filter. You will need the coarsest grind of beans. A finer grind might clog the filter and leave some sediment behind. A typical ratio of grounds to hot water would be one to two tablespoons per six ounces. While your water is heating to a near-boil, measure the grounds into the pot. Pour the hot water in and stir. Place the lid on the pot but don’t push down. Steep for four minutes (or to your preference), then slowly push the plunger down. Your coffee is now ready. Store any extra coffee in a thermos so it will not continue to brew.
